Research on Data Centre Innovation: Green gas to combined heat and compute.

Jon Summers, Scientific lead Data centers at RISE, were presenting at Datacloud Nordics in Oslo September 21-22, 2022. He presented our Wedistrict project where we combine green gas fuel cells and liquid cooled OCP compute.
Some takeaways so far from operating the demonstrator is;
- Current setup of the demonstrator shows capability of recovering heat at above 65°C. Insolation to be added.
- The fuel cells are operating at 53% electrical efficiency with biogas.
- The immersion system can reject heat to the FC container at a supply temperature of up to 38°C operating immersion with a setpoint of 45°C.
- Low noise for urban edge installations.
- Can operate on gas in areas with limited availability of electricity from the grid.
