We were granted an electronic waste project EECONE from KDT-JU

Together with the Swedish partners Atea and EcoDC and 50 other European partners including Infineon, STM, Airbus, IMEC and Schneider we were granted the EECONE project on electronic waste.
The goals of the project are
- Reduce level of Electronic waste generated in Europe
- Develop an eco-system enabling European Electronic to be green with a low environmental impact
The work areas are Management of existing products, Enable green by design, Develop and deploy new processes and metrics and Promote a European eco-system.
EECONE has the overarching aim of reducing electronic waste (e-Waste) by considering 12 technologies that lie in the EECONE 6R list of Reduce, Reliability, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish and Recycle. The project has identified 10 use cases that also lie in the EECONE 6R list and employ different aspects of the 12 technologies. The use cases also sit in application areas, namely automotive, consumer electronics, health, ICT, aeronautics, and agriculture.
The Swedish organisations are RISE, EcoDC a nd Atea. RISE will lead a project wide major output in the form of a report on second life of electronics which also will be supported by 2 use cases within ICT, one lead by RISE with collaboration from EcoDC, Atea and other EECONE partners to reduce data centre e-Waste via technical LCA-driven refresh and reuse. The second use case is supported by RISE and is to extend the service life of ICT user equipment toward Internet access with a reduced environmental impact.
Key Digital Technologies JU is a institutionalized partnership program, an Joint Undertaking, where funding comes from the European Commission via Horisont Europa, funding authorities in participating countries and participating organizations.
Within Key Digital Technologies JU, Vinnova finances project with actors along the entire value chain within electronic components and systems, with both software and hardware focus to contribute to sustainable digital transformation. Areas of application can be industrial production, the automotive sector, energy and 5G / 6G.
