Textiles

The textiles industry has a significant environmental impact and sustainability and circularity are crucial. The industry is undergoing rapid change due to stricter legal requirements and demand for recyclable, resource-efficient materials.

RISE provides innovative solutions to support the textile industry's transition, from research ideas to sustainable and competitive products. With our cutting-edge expertise, advanced testing and demonstration environments, and technical infrastructure, we support every stage of the value chain, including strategy, material selection, design, material development, testing, certification and textile recycling.

We actively participate in EU legislative work through initiatives such as the ETP (European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing), as well as projects like CIRPASS and CISUTAC. These initiatives are driving the development of digital product passports and circular textile flows in line with the upcoming Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

Crafting a circular textile strategy

The textile industry is facing demands to reduce environmental impact and adopt circular business models, whilst maintaining profitability. Do you need support in transforming your textile operations to meet future requirements for circularity and sustainability? We will help you craft a strategy.
Expertise

Circular textile design & material

Decisions made during the design and product development phase determine whether a textile product can be part of a circular value chain. The challenges are many: complex fiber blends hinder recycling, additives can prevent biodegradation, and design can make disassembly or repair more difficult.
Expertise

Developing textile fibers & material

RISE offers research-based innovation support for companies and organisations driving the textile transition. With expert support throughout the entire development process, from concept to certified product, conditions are created for sustainable, circular, and high-performance textile materials.
Expertise

Textile test, analysis and certification

In the textile industry, testing, certification and analysis are crucial to ensure product quality and compliance with legal requirements. Compliance can become both complex and costly. Limited testing capacity and growing sustainability requirements further increase this challenge
Expertise

Recycling of textile materials

The textile industry is facing increasing pressure to recycle textile waste, comply with stricter EU regulations and remain competitive. Achieving this requires profitable and sustainable solutions, with material recycling as a central element of future business models.
