Fire safety through testing, research and expertise
Fires cause injuries, fatalities and billions in economic losses every year. At the same time, society is placing increasingly higher demands on fire safety in buildings, vehicles and infrastructure. Companies must ensure that their products meet fire safety requirements under national and international regulations, while also developing safer materials and constructions. Effective fire protection saves lives; limits damage and creates safer environments.
RISE verifies the fire safety performance of products, materials and technical systems through testing, certification and qualified evaluations. Its activities range from testing individual components and materials to full-scale fire tests of vehicles, batteries, trains and other advanced constructions.
Fire research at RISE plays a central role in the development of safer societies. Through research in areas such as fire dynamics, material properties, battery safety and fire protection in buildings and infrastructure, RISE contributes to innovation, enhanced safety and sustainable solutions for the future.
RISE also carries out independent reviews and analyses on behalf of companies, insurance providers, the police and other public authorities.
