Fiber optics and photonics
Today's industry and infrastructure require measurements to be taken in environments where traditional sensors are ineffective, such as those involving extreme temperatures, high voltages, magnetic fields, corrosive atmospheres and hard-to-reach locations deep underground. At the same time, the need for real-time data for AI analysis and predictive maintenance is being driven by digitalisation. Fibre optic sensors are immune to electromagnetic interference and can measure over large distances without electrical power. However, developing the right fibre and fibre sensor system for each application requires specialist expertise.
RISE develops fibre optic sensors and systems, taking them from prototype to production. In our facilities, we manufacture specialised optical fibres tailored to your specific requirements. We offer DAS technology that transforms standard fibre cables into kilometre-long sensors and develop FBG sensors for monitoring machines and structures. We also deliver photonics solutions with PIC and MOEMS for advanced industrial and medical technology systems.
