Biotechnology

The transition to a sustainable bioeconomy requires new solutions for protein production, resource efficiency and circular material flows. The need for alternative raw materials and products is growing, while demands to utilise waste streams and reduce environmental impact are increasing. From unused biomass flows to innovative ingredients and materials – the challenge lies in finding the right technology, the right microorganisms and the right process to go from idea to market-ready product. Without access to specialist expertise, advanced facilities and support throughout the development chain, projects risk becoming costly, taking too long or never being commercialised.
RISE helps you convert biological raw materials and waste streams into useful products through advanced biotechnology. We develop and optimise fermentation processes, characterise and improve microorganisms, and ensure product quality and safety. Through our unique infrastructure with pilot plants of up to 10,000 litres, we support you all the way from the early concept phase to full-scale production and commercialisation.

Project

Production of single-cell proteins from residual streams in biorefineries

The aim of the project is to improve the profitability of large-scale biorefineries by producing single cell protein (SCP) from residual streams remaining after protein extraction for monogastric animals.
