Carbon footprint of data center hardware refresh

Parvathi Thampi had the opportunity to present her research on 'Carbon footprint of data center hardware refresh' at the DATE 2024 conference in Valencia. The titel of the presentation was "Data center IT hardware refresh driven by environmental impact assessment for a circular economy".
The brief talk covered the results of a first level carbon footprint assessment, that was performed as a part of the broader research to determine the environmental impacts of data center hardware refresh. The work is part of the EECONE project. https://www.eecone.com/eecone/home/
The Eco-ES workshop at the DATE conference was devoted to Eco-design and circular economy of Electronic Systems. The half-day event consists of a plenary keynote, invited talks and regular presentations. As a novelty, the second edition proposes also a session dedicated to European projects working on the sustainability of electronics.
