Hydrogen
The climate transition requires Swedish industry and transport to replace fossil raw materials and fuels with sustainable alternatives. Hydrogen is identified as a key technology, but the path to achieving this is complex. How can fossil-free hydrogen be produced cost-effectively? Which materials can withstand high pressures and extreme temperatures? How can safe handling be ensured throughout the value chain? And how can hydrogen production be integrated into existing energy systems to become profitable? Companies, municipalities, and regions planning or implementing hydrogen initiatives need science-based support throughout the journey.
RISE helps you navigate the hydrogen transition with interdisciplinary expertise spanning the entire value chain, from mapping and analysis, through testing and verification, to infrastructure development and ensuring safe handling. We run projects that test liquid hydrogen for shipping, prepare airports for hydrogen-powered aircraft, and optimize production through sector coupling with district heating. The Swedish Hydrogen Development Center brings together industries, energy companies, and technology suppliers to accelerate development and share knowledge about industrial hydrogen use.
