From air to liquid: How can data centers position their existing cooling systems to adapt to future developments?

Whilst air remains the predominant method of cooling in data centers, liquid cooling continues to gain traction to support the growth of HPC applications and to enable operations to work more sustainably. It is widely accepted that the transition to liquid cooling is a matter of when, not if, so it is critical that data centers build flexibility into their cooling designs to adapt their systems in the future.

This episode will assess what the transition to liquid cooling will look like, and consider when this is likely to happen. But how exactly will data centers retrofit their operations? Will a hybrid approach of air and liquid cooling be the next logical step? How relevant will air cooling be in 2030? And, with the myriad solutions for liquid cooling, is it smarter to wait until the ‘best in class’ technology presents itself before adapting existing operations.
