Exploring AI’s potential to improve chemical safety

This workshop brought together stakeholders working at the intersection of chemicals and AI and offered a unique opportunity to explore how AI is already shaping the chemicals domain, share perspectives, and contribute to future directions for research and collaboration.

This workshop was for industry professionals, policy experts, regulators and authorities, researchers and academics, NGOs and civil society organizations, technology and AI developers, consultants, standard-setting bodies, and other stakeholders working with chemicals or AI.

By participating in this workshop, you:

• Gained an up-to-date overview of how AI is already being used for chemicals, and how it can be further applied, including tools.
•Had the opportunity to provide concrete input through interactive sessions to inform a future research and development plan.
• Contribute early to an initiative that aims to become a forum for chemicals and AI.
• Gain insights into current challenges and opportunities related to data and AI for reliable chemical information.
• Get an introduction to TRACE AI, including the project’s goals and approach.
• (Optional) Participate in discussions with others interested in the topic.

The workshop was held within the transdisciplinary research project TRACE AI – Transparent and Accessible Information for a Chemically Safe Circular Economy. The project is led by an interdisciplinary research team from the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, Stockholm University, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and ChemSec – The International Chemical Secretariat.
