Support material for articles

The first step in phasing out hazardous chemicals in articles is to identify which chemicals they contain. The Swedish Centre for Chemical Substitution has developed templates for 15 different materials that you can use when contacting your suppliers. The support materials also include templates for mapping the supply chain and conducting product risk assessments. Feel free to download and use them!

The Swedish Centre for Chemical Substitution’s support materials have been developed for those who want to get started with a systematic approach to chemicals management. These materials complement our Substitution Guide, which provides step-by-step guidance on how to identify, phase out, and replace hazardous chemicals.

The support materials contain:

  • General guide - systematic chemical work (Swedish)
  • Overall legal requirements for articles (Swedish)
  • Word templates for contact with subcontractors (Swedish and English)
  • Excel template Risk assessment and mapping of the supply chain (Swedish)

Customize the material to suit your business needs

The support material can be used by all companies and organizations, but is mainly designed for small and medium-sized companies that produce or distribute articles. The support material has been developed focusing on the product groups: textiles, shoes, accessories, furnishings and furniture. It can also be used for other goods with the materials covered.

You can customize the template documents contained in the support material to suit your business. The templates are made in Word and Excel and should be seen as a basis and inspiration to start working on systematic chemical work.
