Why chemical substitution is important

The spread of hazardous substances needs to be reduced to protect human health and our environment. Demands for environmentally better alternatives are increasing, and we move towards a circular economy where materials can be reused in new goods.

From increased demands to increased competitiveness

The presence of substances in the environment that have been created or extracted by society should not threaten human health or biodiversity. Today, many dangerous substances are found, in low concentrations, in plants, animals and humans. The spread of hazardous substances needs to be prevented and reduced to protect human health and biodiversity.

Demand is increasing for environmentally better alternatives and there is a demand that we manage a circular economy where materials can be reused in new goods. By exchanging unnecessarily hazardous substances, companies will gain increased competitiveness both nationally and internationally.

Together we can work to achieve the environmental quality objective of a non-toxic environment, Giftfri miljö.

Step by step towards a sustainable future

A well-structured chemicals management and informed substitution of hazardous chemicals are the cornerstones  of  a sustainable and competitive future for progressive businesses. The steps forward could include:

  • Structure your chemical management
  • Identify substances of concern
  • Create an inventory of alternative solutions
  • Assess and select a solution
  • Test, implement and evaluate the sustainable solution
