Large scale room fire test of surface layers in building products. The method evaluates fire properties such as heat release rate, smoke production rate, flame spread, burning droplets and the presence of flashover.   Testing can be performed according to e.g. ISO 9705, ISO 9705-1, EN 14390 and FTP Code 2010 (Resolution MSC.307(88)) Part 10, annex 1.

A common fire cause during storage of porous organic materials is autoignition. The reason is self-heating, which is triggered by microbial activity, chemical oxidation or physical processes from moisture migration. The most common small-scale method is a so-called wire basket test that evaluates self-heating from chemical oxidation.

A fire testing method that evaluates the fire performance of all building products except floorings regarding heat realese rate, smoke production, flame spread and burning droplets/particles. The test method is a part of the test programme for CE-marking according to the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).

RISE regularly conducts fire tests on plastic fuel tanks for vehicles. The fire tests are carried out in our large fire test hall in accordance with UN Regulation 34 annex 5, clause 5. 

Smoking in sofas and armchairs can be a cause of fires. The ignitability of furnitures is an important feature to consider when evaluating fire risks. These standards specify test methods to assess the ignitability of material combinations such as cover and fillings intended to be used for upholstered seating, when subjected to smoldering cigarette

Fires can be caused by, for example, bed linens that catch fire through bed smoking. The flammability of bedding products is an important feature to consider when evaluating fire risks. The test is carried out where either a glowing cigarette or a match-like flame equivalent is used as a source of ignition. These two methods are useful for evaluating flammability for pillows, duvets, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, thin bed mattresses etc.

A dust explosion may occur when an ignitable concentration of fine dust particles dispersed in air comes into contact with an ignition source, which can be a hot surface, static electricity, self-heating material or a naked flame.

In fire fighting systems with foam it is very important that the foam concentrates have the quality that you can expect. We offer quality control testing of foam concentrates stored on ships, industries etc., according to SP-Method 2580. The test method also includes a Small scale fire test method which is suggested by IMO to be used for annually tests on foam concentrate on ships. The results from the small scale fire test have documented correlation to the European standard EN1568.

Certification of fire alarm systems and smoke and heat ventilation products according to Construction Products regulation (CPR) and/or intruder alarm systems according to SPCR201.

The Construction Products Regulation, CPR, requires certification of fire alarms and equipment used to ventilate fire gases from buildings. RISE can offer type testing documentation according to standards EN 54 and EN 12101-10 for these types of products.

Testing for wind load, air tightness and rain tightness is part of extensive testing of the fire ventilator aiming at certification. Other parts of RISE are tests for fire resistance, snow load, opening/closing test and vibration test.
