Purpose

Annex K, ”Twenty‑five year inspection” of EN 12845:2015+A1:2020, ”Fixed firefighting systems – Automatic sprinkler systems – Design, installation and maintenance”, requires that a number of sprinklers should be removed and inspected no later than 25 years after their installation.

The testing indicates wheter the sprinklers in the actual system are serviceable or not.

Method

The sprinklers are evaluated regarding the following:

a) operation;

b) operation temperature;

c) variation of K-factor;

d) spray obstacles;

e) lodgement;

f) thermal sensitivity.

Annex K of SS-EN 12845:2015+A1:2020 stipulate how many sprinklers that should be tested, but the sample should at least include 20 sprinklers. Note that RISE Fire Research only tests the actual sprinklers. Malfunction of the system may involve other parts of the system such as the pipe or the water supply. That is not taken into consideration in these tests

Deliveries

The tests are reported in a report in English.
