BIOSAFIRE - Development and manufacture of new, more sustainable and safer materials using biobased functionalised additives based on lingin and tannins to improve fire resistance

The segment for smaller vessels is currently underutilized, but several companies in the industry are driving the development and the issue of appropriate fire safety acceptance criteria for small vessels in national traffic, constructed with lightweight materials is highly relevant.

The project aims to form a holistic description of vulnerability that is quantifiable and transferable from spatial and temporal variables. Using this as a basis, the distribution of responsibility and roles of actors can be described and processed in the cross-sectoral dialogue.

Research of the fire performance of CLT and Glued Laminated Timber buildings, with visible wood surfaces.

The project is formed in accordance with the Invitation to Tender for “Finalisation of the European approach to assess the fire performance of facades” (Call for tenders No 761/PP/GRO/IMA/19/1133/11140) of the European commission (September 2019). The objective of the project is to finalise the methodology to assess the fire performance of façades

The project has demonstrated various ways to design and construct a multi-story building with a load-bearing timber structure (20+ stories) and has strengthened knowledge among the participating stakeholders. The results provide a foundation for future projects and contribute to the development of large-scale sustainable building solutions.
