Purpose
The method is used to determine the burning rate of vertically mounted products used internally in vehicles/buses. Products that can be tested according to this method are materials installed vertically in the interior of the vehicle. Insulation materials installed vertically in the engine compartment and in separate heaters must also be tested.
When testing Annex 8, the requirements for Annex 6 (horizontal firing rate) are also met.
In order to use an interior material in buses, the product must meet the fire requirements according to UN ECE Regulation No. 118. RISE is listed by the Swedish Transport Agency, to perform fire testing to be used as a basis for type approval. The type approval is issued by the Swedish Transport Agency.
Method
The test specimen is mounted vertically in a metal frame. Across the specimen three treads of cotton are mounted. The flame is applied in the bottom of the specimen, the time for the material to burn and break the cotton tread is measured. The result, the burning rate, is expressed in mm/min.
Deliveries
A test report, in Swedish or English, is deliverd after testing.
