Material consumption of homogeneous Products during test:

Material consumption of non-homogeneous Products during test:

If the thickness of the product is thinner than 50 mm sufficient number of horizontal layers of the material shall be used to adjust the thickness to 50 mm.

Purpose
This fire test is for identification of products which produce only a very limited amount of heat and flame when exposed to temperatures of approximately 750º C. The main purpose of the test is to determine the non-combustibility of products for maritime use.
Products and materials for maritime use is fire tested according to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) code, IMO 2010 FTP Code. The results from fire testing according to the FTP-code can be used as a basis for type approval (also called the wheel mark).
Type approval is regulated in accordance with European Parliament Directive 2014/90/EU. RISE can perform the fire tests, issue the certificates and perform the production control required in order to gain the wheel mark.
Method
First the organic content of the product is determined. After, a test specimen is located inside a cylindrical furnace tube at 750 °C. The furnace and specimen temperatures are measured continuously during the test. Potential combustion of the test specimen is registered as temperature rise and/or visible flames. Mass loss of the test specimen is calculated after the test. These parameters are used to decide if the product is non-combustible or not.
Deliveries
A test report, in Swedish or English, is deliverd with the test results after testing.
