New name for a world-leading cluster for the development and commercialization of biorefinery processes

- It's an exciting journey we're on now with everything happening in our region in the bioeconomy field. Therefore, it feels extra fun that we have a new name for our innovation cluster so that we can maximize the benefits of the hub being created in Örnsköldsvik for biorefinery development and the bioeconomy, says Johan Börjesson, Group Manager for the Innovation System Group, RISE in Örnsköldsvik.

The Processum Biorefinery Cluster works to increase the pace of transition to a bioeconomy and accelerate the development of new ideas and value chains within biorefinery. With a long history of industrial symbiosis and collaborations along entire value chains, the cluster targets actors, regionally, nationally, and internationally and actively works to create dynamics between actors.

- The goal of the cluster is to increase the pace of the transition to a bioeconomy and create conditions for companies along the entire value chain to accelerate their innovations and technologies towards commercialization.

Sweden is now rallying in the bioeconomy field. The cluster is part of and has access to the unique testing and demonstration environment Bioeconomy Arena that RISE is now building up and further developing throughout Sweden.

- Our cluster will strengthen RISE's collective offering in biorefinery, and we will also strengthen our offering to our member companies by attracting more actors in the bioeconomy field, says Karin Johnson, CEO, unit/company RISE Processum AB.
