Processum Biorefinery Cluster releases its 2025 Annual Report

2025 has been a year marked by development, collaboration and significant progress in the transition towards a bio-based economy. This year’s Annual Report highlights how the cluster continues to create favourable conditions for innovation by bringing together stakeholders from across the entire bioeconomy value chain.

During the year, capacity in industrial scale-up and applied research was strengthened through new investments in fermentation, high-pressure chemistry and downstream processing. At the same time, international collaborations and EU-funded projects continued to expand, creating new opportunities for member companies and partners within the bioeconomy sector.

Several new members also joined the cluster during the year, contributing expertise in areas such as biotechnology, circular solutions, sustainable materials, food innovation and green chemistry.

The report also highlights projects and companies working with precision fermentation, sustainable proteins derived from industrial side streams, fossil-free materials and next-generation food solutions – areas where innovation and collaboration are driving progress forward.

From new testbeds and pilot-scale environments to international partnerships and growing commercial interest, 2025 clearly demonstrates how collaboration and innovation are contributing to the transition from fossil-based systems to a circular bioeconomy.
