Greetings from the centre director
14 December 2021, 16:28
Finally, we have been able to meet in person again in NextBioForm. The consortium meeting in October attracted more than 40 participants to Sigtuna for two intense days with presentations from our young scientist, new partners and plenty of time for interaction.
For the new PhD students this was the first time to meet the consortium partners in real life. It was a pleasure to share the energy, interest and enthusiasm that is created in a good meeting.
The mentor program started in the spring 2021, and here each young researcher is partnered with a mentor who supports in aspects of strategic development, career planning and aspects of a career in pharmaceutical industry. The latest group meeting for the mentor program included a study visit to Vironova in Stockholm, which was highly appreciated by all participants.
NextBioForm welcomes two new partners: Nanexa and AstraZeneca, who will contribute with their expertise, techniques and materials, and learn from the interactions in the centre. Read more about Nanexa below.
During the autumn we have seen several publications and one-half-time seminar. Read more about the publications below. An important development is the successful commissioning of the BioSAXS sample environment and the associated automation for sample handling and data handling.
A special thanks to all participants and collaborators for all efforts in exciting research in times of covid-restrictions, working from home and limited opportunities for personal meetings. We now look forward to a well-deserved holiday period and a prosperous new year.
Dr. Anna Fureby, Centre director
