Climate transition from a systems perspective
A climate transition is a society's shift towards climate neutrality. It is one of the most important yet controversial issues we face and requires innovation from all stakeholders.
Climate change is now a reality and society is facing significant challenges in preventing irreversible consequences. The IPCC report reveals that large-scale change must occur swiftly if we are to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
System perspective
To achieve the 1.5-degree target, the transition must be accelerated. This requires us to adopt a systemic perspective, with all actors recognising their role in the entire chain. The key to innovation lies in new business models and cross-industry collaborations, where everyone takes responsibility for both consumption and production.
RISE role
RISE has extensive expertise in climate efficiency across a range of sectors and industries, including agriculture, materials production and mobility. In addition to analysing, evaluating and quantifying climate impact, RISE can maximise the potential impact of its clients by adopting a systems approach, fostering innovation and raising awareness. A better understanding of opportunities can be created by applying knowledge of which mechanisms accelerate the transition. Innovation can lie in new ways of looking at materials, opportunities for influence or digitalisation. The internal competence platform, Climate Opportunity Accelerator (COA), brings together expertise from different divisions to increase knowledge about climate transition through innovation across RISE.
In brief, RISE can:
- Be an innovation partner in development work.
- Offer analysis and mapping of technical and/or organisational needs for climate change adaptation.
- Develop and evaluate roadmaps and strategies for the transition to a climate-friendly economy.
