Climate adaptation

Torrential rain flooding basements, heat waves creating unhealthy indoor environments, rising sea levels threatening coastal properties – extreme weather is becoming increasingly common and intense. Property owners need to protect financial assets and ensure safe environments for tenants. Municipalities need to guarantee a reliable water supply and manage stormwater as a resource rather than a problem. At the same time, pressure from banks, investors, and regulations to report and manage climate risks is increasing. Many people know that something needs to be done, but where to start? And how do we collaborate when measures extend across property, municipal, and national borders?

RISE produces research-based risk analyses that identify vulnerable buildings and prioritise where measures will have the greatest impact. For municipalities, we develop water supply plans that ensure deliveries both on a daily basis and when a crisis occurs. We create collaboration models that enable property owners, municipalities, and water and sewage companies to implement climate adaptation measures together. Through laboratory tests, we verify that building solutions can actually withstand tomorrow's weather.
