Agriculture
Agriculture is facing an accelerating transition where digitalisation, fossil-free energy and increased productivity must be combined with profitability and competitiveness. For farmers, this means navigating between new technical solutions, climate requirements and animal health, while often lacking internal IT expertise and resources for implementation. Data platforms need to be integrated, energy systems converted and animal welfare ensured – all while Sweden's food supply and preparedness must be strengthened. The challenge is to make the transition manageable and profitable for the individual farmer.
RISE supports Swedish agriculture with both in-depth technical and agronomic expertise to enable the transition. We run a test bed for digitalised agriculture where sensors, autonomous machines and data analysis are developed and verified in practice. We are leading the work towards fossil-free energy throughout the food chain and offer energy mapping at farm level. RISE develops precision farming methods, virtual fencing and new feed raw materials for increased sustainability and profitability. Through innovation networks and collaboration with the Swedish Board of Agriculture on data platforms, the thresholds for small businesses to take the step into digitalisation are lowered.
