Recycling and circularity of batteries

Recycling and circularity are natural steps when society moves towards a circular economy. In a circular economy, products get new life after their first use. The products can either be used in a new application, or materials can be recycled and reused as raw material for new products.

All Batteries are circular

The circular economy requires that batteries are handled by a recycling company where the quality and status can be determined. Then the batteries are either reused or the raw materials are being recycled. 

Recycling batteries

This circularity is utterly valid for batteries – both for batteries we have utilized in the last 20-30 years and for new types of batteries being developed today, particularly those for vehicles. In EU, a new regulation is proposed, which would regulate an obligatory amount of reused material in the battery manufacturing process.

At RISE, we tailor the content in every project to best suit your needs. This is possible since we have expertise in several areas concerning recycling and circularity. We have expertise in delivery chains from the mine or recycler to the product. We know safe methods to dismantle, store and transport batteries. We also have expertise in methods for quality measurement of batteries (SoH, State of Health), recycling techniques and reuse of materials as well as how to achieve traceability throughout the whole battery life cycle.
