AstaZero Contributes to Euro NCAP’s Expansion of Road Safety Collaboration to Include Trucks in 2024

12 April 2023, 11:29

AstaZero, owned by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, is pleased to announce its contribution to the expansion of the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) road safety collaboration. Euro NCAP has extended its vehicle safety rating portfolio to include heavy trucks, a critical step towards improving road safety.

Starting in 2024, Euro NCAP will focus on testing auto brakes, course control, and other driver support systems, with crash tests to be conducted in 2030. The Swedish Transport Administration, a founding member of Euro NCAP, has been instrumental in developing this test program for heavy trucks. As a world-renowned test facility for automated vehicles and active safety systems, AstaZero is proud to have contributed to the testing methods and practical testing of heavy vehicles.

AstaZero has played a significant role in the development of the testing methods and practical testing of heavy vehicles, and the facility is uniquely equipped to test heavy vehicles. AstaZero has evaluated and conducted tests on various scenarios, ensuring that testing is up-to-date and accurate.

"We are committed to promoting road safety and will continue to work closely with Euro NCAP to ensure that heavy vehicles are tested to the highest safety standards," said Peter Janevik, CEO at AstaZero. "We are proud to have contributed to this important initiative, and we look forward to continuing to be a part of the ongoing development of safety testing programs for all types of vehicles."

As part of the initiative, Euro NCAP will conduct tests at certified test labs in Europe, including AstaZero, which has been designed specifically to accommodate the unique requirements of heavy vehicles. With this heritage in place, AstaZero is looking forward to an even larger contribution to traffic safety for trucks in the future.

By expanding its testing program to include heavy trucks, Euro NCAP is taking a critical step towards improving road safety and reducing the number of accidents involving heavy vehicles. AstaZero is proud to have contributed to this effort and is dedicated to supporting Euro NCAP's mission to make Europe's roads safer for all.
