The Animal Production Knowledge Hub was established in 2023 on behalf of the government, with the aim of strengthening productivity, profitability and competitiveness in Swedish animal production.
The Knowledge Hub for Animal Production was established in 2023 on behalf of the government, with the aim of strengthening productivity, profitability and competitiveness in Swedish animal production. The hub will compile current research and make it available to farmers and their advisors in a web-based knowledge database, and will play an active role in disseminating knowledge to farms and advisory companies.
The Knowledge Hub for Animal Production complements and supports the advisors already operating in the Swedish market. The hub will also analyse and compile the industry's needs in terms of new research and knowledge development, targeting universities and research funders.
By compiling, making available and disseminating knowledge to Swedish agriculture and its advisors, the hub contributes to increasing Swedish production capacity, strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish livestock producers and reducing the vulnerability of Swedish food production. All while maintaining compliance with Swedish animal welfare legislation.
The Animal Production Knowledge Hub was established as an organisation within RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden in the spring of 2023. Since then, experts have been hired in pig production, cattle production, milk production and stable construction. There is also an expert in business economics, and recruitment is planned in sheep, poultry and egg production. In addition, the Knowledge Hub consists of an event coordinator, communicators, project managers and a manager.
To assist it, Navet is forming an analysis group within each animal species and subject area. This analysis group will contribute input on which areas and topics need to be covered, as well as analyse what knowledge needs to be developed to strengthen agriculture.
The Agricultural Knowledge Bank, which collects knowledge on the web, was launched in April 2025. It will become the central hub where both farmers and advisors can find the latest research and relevant knowledge, written in a way that is accessible to the respective target groups. The Knowledge Bank has been developed in collaboration with advisory organisations in Sweden.
