Casting imperfection analysis of cast irons

The course provides knowledge of the most common casting imperfections (defects) and how these are identified and alleviated. The course increases insight into how the defects occur, how they are categorized and what measures can be put in place so that they are not repeated or at least alleviated.

The course consists of a theoretical part where common imperfections like shrinkages, gas porosities and cracks are discussed. In addition, there are practical exercises in a laboratory environment and a review of practical cases. The course ends with an appreciated exercise where participants can use their new knowledge to investigate real casting defects and discuss how they could have been avoided.
