This course gives an understanding of the working methods and tools available when developing cast components. During the course we will address different types of casting methods and materials, and we will go through possible choices when it comes to process and material.

The course increases insight into how the defects occur, how they are categorized and what measures can be put in place so that they are not repeated or at least alleviated.

The course provides basic knowledge about aluminum as a cast metal and about how melt handling affects the casting result. Increased knowledge also improves the possibility of producing aluminum castings with increased quality.
