Certification of Security products

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Certification of Security products Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

RISE has a broad range of services for security products, we cover Svenska Stöldskyddsföreningen (SSF) standards as well as European (EN) standards – From digital locks and IoT products to doors and alarm systems.

Purpose/Benefit:

What is security?

The word security often means to protect from something, and historically this has meant different physical and mechanical forms of protection, like a door, a lock or a vault. As things have evolved, we have increasingly started to use electronic products, such as alarms and surveillance cameras to protect from intrusions and burglary. Things do not stop there, as with digitalization there are new risks and new words such as “hacker attack” and “cyber security”. One of the unique aspects of digital intrusions is that they transcend borders and are not limited by geography, in the way that a physical burglary is. There are many good reasons to certify products and for us it is obvious that security product should be certified. A certificate is an attestation that an independent third party has verified the characteristics of the product. While a certificate is often a requirement in procurement negotiations, a certificate from RISE also has value in marketing.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

The road to certifying a product starts with an application sent together with the necessary documentation for the product in question. After reviewing the documentation RISE will together with the customer plan the necessary activities. When the requirements have been fulfilled the certificate will be issued.

Green area places the secondary system in relation to other standards in the pressure-frequency plane. Borders are inexact and purely indicative.

At present, traceability to the SI unit pascal is maintained through static pressure measurements. However, the majority of measurements carried out in industry, healthcare and the rest of society take place under dynamic conditions. That is, conditions where the pressure changes over time. In order to verify that a measuring instrument can handle the prevailing rate of change with sufficient accuracy, the instrument must also be dynamically calibrated.

Through participation in previous projects, the National Laboratory for Pressure and Vacuum at RISE is at the forefront of international development of traceable dynamic pressure measurements in the gas phase. RISE's previous work has been done using the shock tube that is available as a resource in the laboratory. However, the shock tube is limited downwards both in the pressures and in the frequency content that can be generated.

This project aims to develop a secondary system that can generate dynamic pressures that overlap with static pressure standards and with the shock tube both in pressure levels and in frequency content. In this sense, dynamic pressure sensors will also be able to be characterised in this intermediate area. Traceability is obtained through a reference sensor that is both calibrated statically and characterized by the shock tube.

In the longer term, the secondary system may also bridge the amplitude gap between acoustic pressures and the pressures generated by shock tubes. The secondary system will also be an important resource in future research projects, which may, for example, aim to develop pressure standards based on optical measurements of the quantum state of the pressure medium

Determination of the water content in battery electrolyte based on modified Karl Fischer titration.

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Water content determination in battery electrolytes Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Water is an impurity in Li-ion electrolytes. This is because water reacts, breaks down, important components such as the active salt LiPF6. Control of production and recycling processes towards low water levels is of great importance. We offer analysis of water content in, among other things, ketone-based electrolytes.

Purpose/Benefit:

Water content determinations can be made in several ways based on concentration and matrix. For the electrolytes that are common in Li-ion batteries, we perform customized titrations of water. The method is based on Karl Fischer methodology, both columetric and volumetric. Titrations give a low spread in the measurements and the two types together give a large measurment range, from about 50 ppm to 100%. In case of expected low water levels, consult us about sampling and transport. The risk of contamination is large. We can also provide you with suitable sampling vessels.
