 Purpose/Benefit:

During military exercises, laser-based weapon-firing simulators and target simulators are often used. By standardising how weapon-firing simulators and target simulators encode and decode the optical laser engagement signal, it becomes possible for units from different manufacturers to operate together on the combat training field. This is particularly important when different armed forces, such as those within NATO, conduct joint live simulation combat exercises.

As an independent testing institute with extensive metrological expertise, we perform accredited testing of both weapon-firing simulators and target simulators. Independent verification that a product meets the requirements of the standard is often a prerequisite set by procurers and buyers.

 Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

The testing is carried out with equipment and an accredited method developed by RISE, based on the standard SISO-STD-016-00-2016 and the corresponding test plan SISO-REF-073-00-2020. The testing is performed in RISE’s laboratory, or upon request, at the customer’s site.

 Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

The results of the testing are summarised in a report, where each subtest in the test plan (SISO-REF-073-00-2020) is presented separately.

RISE can now certify for the entire security market

RISE is now expanding its certification services in accordance with the standards of the Swedish Theft Prevention Association and the Swedish Fire Protection Association. This strengthens the opportunities for independent and quality-assured certification across the entire security market.

– As cyber threats, climate-related fires, and the need for a robust total defense increase, quality-assured solutions for security and fire protection become ever more important. That’s why it’s a significant step that we can now certify according to the standards of the Swedish Fire Protection Association and the Swedish Theft Prevention Association, says Tomas Holm, Head of Certification at RISE.

RISE now offers a complete range of certifications for both individual and corporate standards within the security and fire protection sectors — covering everything from fire alarms and gas extinguishing systems to video surveillance and locks. Among the certifications are, for example, Certified Water Sprinkler Engineer, Intrusion Alarm Installation Company, and Fire Protection Inspection Company. RISE also has an established offering in product certification according to the standards of the Swedish Theft Prevention Association.
