ISO 16840-10 - Brandprovning av rullstolsdynor

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): ISO 16840-10 - Brandprovning av rullstolsdynor Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

ISO 16840-10: Rullstolssitsar – Del 10: Resistens mot antändning av
positioneringshjälpmedel – Krav och provningsmetod

Purpose/Benefit:

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

Värmetrådsspiralen appliceras i 60 sekunder. För ett godkänt resultat gäller att positioneringshjälpmedlet inte antänder med låga och att det heller inte sker en pyrande antändning som varar längre än 120 sekunder.

Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

Efter provning levereras en provningsrapport på svenska eller engelska med resultaten.

The Battery Safety Conference 2027

overview over Gothenburg city centre, buildings, river

The Battery Safety Conference takes place on 6–7 April 2027 in Gothenburg. It is an international meeting place where experts from research, industry and policy discuss the latest developments in battery safety, thermal runaway, battery testing and advanced battery systems.

The Battery Safety Conference focuses on battery safety and how we can work together to enable safe electrification. April 2027 marks the third edition of the conference.

Who is the conference for?

The Battery Safety Conference 2027 takes place 6–7 April in Gothenburg. It welcomes researchers, engineers, decision-makers and regulatory bodies. In short: anyone interested in the latest news, challenges and solutions in battery safety.

The big news for 2027: Safety Week

We are proud to announce a new initiative for next year’s conference. The Battery Safety Conference will take place during the same week as the two international conferences, FIVE and ISTSS. We are calling this initiative ‘Safety Week 2027’. You can choose which conferences you would like to attend – one, two, or perhaps all three! Find out more about Safety Week.

The Battery Safety Conference in retrospect

The 2026 edition of the conference brought together around 250 participants from 19 countries, demonstrating strong international engagement across the entire battery value chain. The most common professions were engineers and technical specialists, researchers and academics, managers and executives, safety and risk specialists, and specialists in batteries, energy, and regulatory compliance.

The Battery Safety Conference – a key meeting place

The wide range of nationalities and professional roles underlines the conference’s broad relevance and its role as a key meeting place for collaboration on battery safety. In addition to attending presentations by leading battery experts, there is a strong focus on networking, including a networking dinner. You will also have the opportunity to visit our battery safety lab in Borås or SEEL in Gothenburg.

UN, Manual of Tests and Criteria, section 33.4.6 Test N.4: Test method for self-heating substances

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Dangerous goods testing Test N.4 Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Testing according to "UN Reccomendations on the transport of dangerous goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, section 33.4.6 Test N.4: Test method for self-heating substances" evaluates a materials tendency to self-heat. The data is used for determination of safe transportation on road.

Purpose/Benefit:

Dangerous goods are items or substances that can imply a risk for health, safety, property, or the environment. Some items, which may not be harmful by itself, may become a risk when combined with other substances.

Most regulations concerning dangerous goods, such as national regulations, the IMDG Code, IATA etc. are based on the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations. The guidance document is developed by the United Nations to uniform national and international regulations.

Dangerous goods are divided into nine different classes, grouped by their physical and chemical properties. Through testing a packaging group is assigned, in accordance with the degree of danger they present.

CLASS       SUBSTANCE
1.          Explosive substances and articles
2.          Gases
3.          Flammable liquids
4.1        Flammable solids
4.2        Substances liable to spontaneous combustion
4.3        Substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases
5.1        Oxidizing substances
5.2        Organic peroxides
6.1        Toxic substances
6.2        Infectious substances
7.          Radioactive materials
8.          Corrosive substances
9.          Miscellaneous dangerous substances and articles

Testing is performed according to UN manual of Tests and Criteria - Sektion 33.4.6 - Test N.4:Test method for self-heating substances and the the generated data can be used to classify dangerous goods and to use as a basis for risk analysis and research.

When testing according to Test N.4, the material may be classified as "Not a self-heating substance", "Self-heating substance - Packing group II/Cat. 1" or "Self-heating substance - Packing group III/Cat. 2". In some cases, the material may be classified as "Not a self-heating substance" if it is transported in smaller quantities, even though the test indicates self-heating.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

In Test N.4, the material to be examined is placed inside a wire mesh basket, which is located inside an oven at a fixed elevated temperature. The temperature is then measured in the oven and at the centre of the sample over time.

An initial test is carried out in a metal wire basket with sides of 100 mm (1 dm²) and with an oven temperature of 140°C. This test shows whether the material is self-heating or not. If no self-heating occurs, the test is concluded and the material is reported as "Not a self-heating substance." If self-heating occures, an additional 1-3 tests are needed to determine the final packing group for the material. the occurrence of self-heating (temperature increase in the centre of the material > 60 °C above oven temperature) is examined at a specified oven temperature and test volume.

The definition of self-heating in Test No. 4 is that the temperature increase at the center of the material is 60°C or more above the oven temperature within 24 hours at a given oven temperature and test volume.
