
Isabelle Sjövall is a leading specialist in the interdisciplinary field of NeuroDesign, balancing her time between brain research and practical implementation. She has over 20 years of experience in advanced international projects across architecture, design, and the property industry, and is the author of the much-discussed books Neurodesign (2016) and Designfulness (2020). Over the course of her career, Isabelle has optimised properties with a total sales value of £1.2 billion.
Isabelle is Director and Co-founder of the International Centre for NeuroArchitecture and NeuroDesign, a collaboration between RISE and UCL. She has been instrumental in fostering bilateral connections between the UK and Sweden, drawing on her expertise to strengthen collaborative efforts in research and innovation. Isabelle holds the title of Honorary Designer for the NHS, where she contributes her knowledge to selected projects.
Isabelle's research focuses on the links between neuroscience and design, for health, performance, and wellbeing. Through her work, Isabelle remains dedicated to demonstrating how research-based design can support human, ecological, and economic sustainability for people and the planet.
Isabelle's academic background includes studies at the Institute of Behavioural Neuroscience, University College London; the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London; Accademia Italiana Florence; and the Stockholm School of Economics.
