In our ISTA-certified transport lab, you can verify that corrugated cardboard can withstand creep, moisture and stress throughout the entire distribution chain.

Separation of cellulose

Steel Belt Press - Stronger Materials

By applying high pressure and heat, pulp fibres can be compressed and bonded together in a way that increases paper density and strength. The lignin in the mechanical pulp plays a crucial role in creating strong packaging as it acts as a natural binder between the fibers.

Nanocellulose pilot

Transportable demonstration unit for production of dry strength additives: multi-fibrillated cellulose (MFC) and highly refined pulp. It is unique in that it enables mill trials under production conditions.

Grinding of paper pulp

The grinding laboratory is a separate part of the FEX pilot paper mill. Here, paper pulp can be ground in one or more stages. It is also possible to grind with recirculation of part of the flow.

The laboratory has world-unique instruments for efficient analysis of a large number of properties of wood and fibres important for industry and research. The instruments can also contribute to projects where effects of forest management and plant breeding are studied.
