The INFINITY project aims to develop the next generation of wave power technology by creating a new power capture system and an advanced control system that improves operational reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. The goal is to make wave power a competitive part of Europe's renewable energy mix.
The project is working to develop both the design and control of wave energy systems, building on previous EU projects, IMPACT and VALID. The work includes modeling, predictive control, and verification in controlled test environments where performance and lifespan are evaluated.
RISE coordinates the project and leads the work on quality assurance, lifespan analysis, circular value chains, and communication. Together with Ocean Harvesting Technologies, VGA, and Politecnico di Torino, new solutions are being developed and tested to reduce operational and maintenance costs, extend service intervals, and increase availability. Dry tests are conducted at the project’s partner organizations, with support from RISE in the analysis and evaluation of the results.
Through these efforts, INFINITY contributes to lowering the costs of wave power, increasing reliability, and strengthening the European development of sustainable marine energy.
