Accelerated Corrosion Testing - Salt Mist and Condensation

Factors like temperature, contaminations, moisture and rain have a destructive effect on most materials. The durability of materials and products can be estimated by accelerated testing under controlled conditions.

Purpose

Accelerated corrosion tests provides the possibility to expose materials under controlled and stressed conditions to test their corrosion resistance. One advantage with accelerated corrosion tests are shorter exposure times compared to outdoor exposures.

Accelerated corrosion tests do not correspond exactly to real life exposure but have several advantages like reproducibility and time savings in the product development process.

Method

We offer testing according to most standard methods. We also set up testing according to the customers’ demands. For examples on test methods we perform, see section Standards. The majority of our test methods are accredited by SWEDAC, please contact us for further information.

The testing is performed in salt mist chambers in our well-equipped laboratory. We can expose test parts, panels, or complete components.

The evaluation is performed according to customer demands. Examples of evaluations are visual inspections, adhesion tests, corrosion from scribe etc.

Deliveries

The test result is reported in a test report if no other agreement is made.
