In Framtidsverkstad, high school kids spend their summer job as digital experts. With the help of a unique design methodology they develop digital concepts for companies. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between young people and companies, a prerequisite for society´s further development.
High school students have spent more than 10 000 hours in front of a computer, mobile phone or tablet, meaning they count as experts in digital tools. Participating companies in Framtidsverkstad gain access to young people’s knowledge and skills as well as getting innovative concepts developed based on the company challenges and business opportunities focused on the digital future.
”Framtidsverkstad is a unique way for Västerås to strengthen the cooperation between high school kids and companies. The high school kids are digital natives who have incredible knowledge to contribute to companies.” - Anders Teljebäck, City Council Chairman, Västerås.
During the kids summer job in Framtidsverkstad they learn how to work in teams, get contacts with companies and develop innovative concepts through a design methodology. Participating companies participate in a number of two-hour workshops where information about their company is shared with the kids and opportunities are created. During the workshop the companies get insight into how the design methodology is designed and how it works to develop innovative concepts through the methodology. Framtidsverkstad leads to interaction between young people and companies, a prerequisite for society’s further development.
