Semiconductor based device processing at RISE

Advanced Chip Technologies: A Vinnova competence centre

ACT gathers semiconductor actors in Sweden to develop Advanced Chip Technology to meet industrial/society needs by utilising the scientific excellence and innovations within the consortium.

Through partnership with European Chips Act initiatives ACT will provide information on strategic roadmaps for Swedish semiconductor and related industry.

The consortium and project implementation

The consortium has 17 committed partners including three academic partners and industrial partners ranging from start-ups to multinational companies with a wide and extensive network worldwide.

ACT will utilize collaborative effort combining leading experts in the fields of semiconductor device and circuit technology with natural connections along the value chains to carry out the aimed objectives. To ensure the implementation of the project, three work packages (WP) with detailed tasks are defined:

WP1: Devices for 3D Integration including material synthesis, surface passivation and gate-stacks and device processing for heterogeneous 3D integration.

WP2: Photonic Integration with tasks on epitaxy and optoelectronic integration for infrared detector arrays, nanowire-based photovoltaics for IoT modules and silicon-photonics for optical communication and sensing.

WP3: Circuit implementation including smart energy and RF with focuses on millimeter-wave circuitry and smart power electronics.

RISE role and contribution to ACT

Through the collaborations with Lund university, KTH and the industrial partners, RISE is willing to gain further strengthen for its semiconductor technology platform and to make more contribution for sustainable growth of Swedish industry in the related fields.

Björn Samel is RISE PI in ACT project; Linda Johansson is one of board members of ACT and Qin Wang is the project manager for ACT at RISE. In addition, Qin Wang is also one of WP3 leaders within ACT consortium.
