Digiphysical care contacts increased the security of people in nursing

The project Digiphysical care contacts created security for citizens who live in nursing homes and their relatives in the region of Västerbotten. The project seeked to address the challenge and increase the confidence of these citizens in health and care through the combination of digital and physical care.

Sweden's health care is facing major challenges. Demographics with an aging population, difficulties with the provision of skills and the conversion to digital systems provide opportunities, but also place great demands on management, routines and collaboration.

People living in nursing homes are usually elderly and multi-ill with great physical or cognitive difficulties to cope with their own housing and need continuous help and support. For these people, physician continuity is an important part of the treatment, which is unfortunately lacking in many rural communities.

With the project, we wanted to create security for citizens who live in nursing homes and their relatives in the Västerbotten Region's area of southern Lapland. This group is severely affected by not having a continuity in doctor contacts, which is because they are forced to use reluctant doctors in the area to deal with the shortage of doctors.

The project seeked to address the challenge and increase the confidence of these citizens in care and care through the combination of digital and physical care services.

Project partners in addition to RISE were Glesbygdsmedicinskt Centrum, Region Västerbotten, Malå municipality, KRY and the Civic Tech platform.

Vinnova's Civic tech program: Digital services for increased trust between citizens and the public sector fund this project.
