Subject Areas: Urban Planning - Urban and Regional Studies
I lead interdisciplinary research at the nexus of the built environment, individual experiences and societal structures/processes. Adopting a systems approach, I integrate diverse perspectives in the development of methodologies and policy recommendations, with the objective of reducing uncertainties in decision-making processes and advancing societal goals. My research focuses on generating new knowledge regarding how urban planning, in collaboration with civil society and the private sector, can steer development toward long-term sustainable spatial structures and high-quality living environments, with particular emphasis on accessibility and social inclusion. Since 1992, I have contributed to methodological innovation and provided guidance in areas including integrated settlement and transport systems, strategic school planning, and risk assessment in urban planning.
