With a background in architecture, urban and regional planning, and a PhD in planning and decision analysis, Luciane Borges combines systems thinking with long-term strategic perspectives to address complex societal challenges. She has extensive experience leading and contributing to research and innovation projects across Nordic, European, and international contexts, with expertise in climate transitions, circular urban systems, territorial development, and transformative governance. Her methodological strengths include futures studies, scenario development, and decision-support approaches, which she applies to explore systemic transformations in areas such as food, energy, and water systems. She has been particularly active in advancing knowledge on transformative capacities and integrated planning approaches.
A core dimension of her work is enabling collaboration across sectors and levels of governance. She has extensive experience in multi-actor projects involving academia, public authorities, industry, and civil society, where she designs and facilitates collaborative frameworks and co-creative processes.
