
Katarina Borg is an urban planner and landscape architect with more than twenty-five years of experience in planning and urban development within the municipal, private, and governmental sectors. At RISE, Katarina leads practice-oriented research projects and assignments in close collaboration with municipalities, housing companies, civil society, and researchers.
Her work focuses on the transition of the built environment, with projects in sustainable urban development, transport-efficient / car-reduced spatial planning, built environments, architecture and design, green infrastructure, mobility, and social sustainability. Among other initiatives, Katarina leads the research project Enriched Neighborhoods, which explores how mobility solutions can reduce car use and free up space for more housing and greenery in car-dominated residential areas.
Several of her current projects address the transformation of traffic routes into streets and the development of local communities and urban spaces that foster togetherness and social cohesion. Katarina has a strong interest in urban landscapes and design and serves as the representative of Architects Sweden on Stockholm’s Council for the Protection of Beauty. She has also participated as a jury member in several architectural competitions.
