The Art of Learning – A Playbook and Study for Sustainable Learning

What truly makes us want to learn?

Behind every learning process lies a spark: a curiosity, a sense of safety, an inner drive, or perhaps a situation that demands we recall knowledge we thought we had forgotten. These are the driving forces we have explored in the project The Art of Learning, where research meets real-life experiences in the workplace.

Researchers at Luleå University of Technology, together with partners such as RISE, Nox Consulting, ABB, the Transition Fund, and The Park, have over several years conducted scientific studies, collected stories, tested models, and created tools. Together, we have asked: what makes people want to keep learning throughout life – and how can we design for that? Our goal has been to inspire and support individuals and organizations to initiate and maintain continuous learning.

The result is brand-new research on lifelong learning, gathered here for inspiration and practical use – open to anyone working with, curious about, or longing to create more joyful and sustainable learning in the workplace.
