Sustainable and Integrated Urban Transport Systems Step 3 (HITS3)

HITS 3 addresses the challenges of urban logistics systems from a systemic perspective and aims to accelerate the transition toward more efficient and sustainable urban freight transport.

Urban Logistics Stockholm

The goal is to further develop, implement, and scale up solutions within:

  1. Sustainable distribution of goods and return flows
  2. Safe and secure loading and unloading
  3. Seamless and flexible deliveries with automated loading and unloading

The aim is to take a step toward a long-term and more permanent systemic transformation.

The project is expected to result in accepted and implementable solutions for:

  1. More efficient freight transport
  2. Increased safety and security for deliveries
  3. Interoperable systems and data management to streamline delivery flows
  4. Knowledge and tools regarding the scalability of the solutions for other cities, both nationally and internationally

Long-term effects are expected to include reduced climate impact from freight transport, sustainable business models, and improved working conditions for drivers.

HITS 3 is carried out in five work packages:

  • WP1: Project Management and Communication
  • WP2: Design for Collaborative Innovation Processes
  • WP3: Service Development and System Demonstrations (divided into three blocks)
  • WP4: Area-Adapted Logistics Solutions
  • WP5: System Perspective, Scaling, and Dissemination

The project is organized in a way that promotes the long-term implementation of its solutions, both for participating stakeholders and for society at large.
