From 27 May to 9 June 2026, researchers, businesses, decision-makers, community stakeholders and residents will gather in Skellefteå for Society Expo 2026 (SE26) – an international event focusing on sustainable solutions for the future.
RISE is contributing through research, seminars and discussions in areas such as sustainable construction, resource efficiency, climate and environment, skills supply, mobility and international collaboration. By linking research to practice, RISE helps develop knowledge and solutions that support the transition to a sustainable society. During SE26, RISE is taking part in several programme items alongside industry, the public sector and academia – at local, national and international levels.
Sustainable construction & the circular economy

RISE participants in Träfokus Västerbotten with a focus on innovation, reuse and circular flows in the timber industry. In the session ‘From linear to circular: reuse in practice’, RISE will lead discussions and panel sessions featuring concrete case studies from industry and research.

EU-MAT – international research collaboration

RISE is hosting EU-MAT, an international research project focusing on sustainable societal transformation. The project’s partners from Finland and Norway are taking part in partner meetings, study visits, workshops and presentations as part of Society Expo 2026.

Transition and system innovation
2–4 june
Through the Viable Cities and Transition Lab Forum 21, RISE is taking part in workshops, learning processes and knowledge-sharing sessions alongside Skellefteå Municipality and other towns in northern Sweden. The focus is on leadership and systemic transformation for climate-neutral towns.
One of the events organised as part of this is Platsbaserad innovation för klimatneutrala städer.
