Presentation of new radar technology for measuring, among other things, fiber-reinforced plastic, without first destroying it - the results of the Vinnova-funded project Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) with microwaves for thickness control. The webinar is aimed at companies with a need for better knowledge about the status of their plastic status.
The industry needs access to more precise data about its infrastructure in plastic. Better knowledge of the status of components can enable a safe workplace and better decision-making about when, and when not, components need to be replaced. This would provide both cheaper and safer maintenance.
There is currently no readily available technology for nondestructive testing (NDT) of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) and FRP with thermoplastic liners. In recent years, several projects have been underway at RISE to develop small, inexpensive, contactless, and versatile microwave radar for NDT. It has been shown that microwave radar easily penetrates FRP and provides signals from both the front and back sides as well as from defects. To improve the technology and increase the reliability of the measurements, RISE is now moving on to the next step with field measurements and a handheld microwave module.
The microwave module can create a completely new tool for staff and inspectors who work with maintenance and assessment of plastic constructions in the industry. It provides the opportunity to monitor over time how constructions perform and reliably be able to plan for their status and when it is time to replace constructions.
The webinar will be presented in English.
Johan kommer att presentera radarmätningar i fält genomförda hos projektets industri partners samt samtliga analyser.
Suraj kommer att presentera den handhållna radarenhet som Percyroc har utvecklat under projektets gång.
