Thermosets are commonly used in the work environment and are used e.g. in adhesives and varnishes. In addition, many of the substances used are harmful to health. We offer help with finding replacements and also offer thermosetting plastic training according to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulation on Chemical work environment risks.

Hydrothermal carbonation (HTC) is an energy efficient process, where for example wet sewage sludge can be upgraded to hydrochar and separated from the water after the process. RISE has expertise and equipment around this both in Stockholm (lab scale) and Örnsköldsvik (pilot scale at RISE Processum).

At RISE, testing, evaluation, research, verification and validation are ongoing to enable the substitution of hazardous chemicals in products, goods and processes into less hazardous alternatives. This page describes how we may help you phasing out PFAS.

Organic synthetic chemistry is used when producing many of the things that surrounds us, from paints and materials to fuels and medicine. At RISE we have the knowledge to solve complex issues within a broad range of areas, from building blocks from renewable sources to optimization of a the syntesis of a new pharmaceutical.

Our research refines the tree's own glue – lignin – into materials, chemicals and motor fuels. We also develop processes to utilise and refine the large amounts of lignin and other wood polymers that chemical pulp mills and other biorefineries receive as a by-product.
