Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory (SEEL) in Nykvarn offers one of Europe’s most advanced testing environments for heavy‑duty vehicles, energy storage systems, and electric drivelines. SEEL is owned by RISE and Chalmers and is a central part of the pan‑European IPCEI initiative. The Nykvarn facility specializes in testing batteries, energy storage systems, and high‑performance electric axles for trucks, buses, and construction machinery, serving as a strategic hub for the development of next‑generation electrified heavy transport.

At SEEL Nykvarn, complex challenges within battery validation, driveline optimization and system integration are met with scientifically grounded methods that ensure performance, durability and safety. SEEL’s facilities – national excellence across three locations

SEEL consists of three complementary test facilities. In addition to the site in Nykvarn, there is a modern test environment in Säve with the capacity to test batteries, electric motors, electric axles, and complete electric vehicles. The facility in Borås is specialized in safety‑critical battery testing, ensuring that batteries meet stringent requirements during use, handling, and production. Together, the three facilities create an integrated and powerful environment for safe, efficient, and innovative development of future electrified transportation.
