The National Laboratory for Pressure and Vacuum
RISE is the National Metrology Institute of Sweden and is responsible, through its National Laboratories, for the central measurement quantities in the International System of Units (SI).
At the National Laboratory for Pressure and Vacuum, we have the country's leading resources for traceable measurements and calibrations of gauge, differential, and absolute pressure. Our goal is to maintain and provide traceability for industry and society. We are the highest authority in Sweden for the SI unit Pascal (Pa).
We participate in national and international research projects, such as in dynamic measurements, where the aim is to establish traceability for rapid pressure changes. We also contribute to the international work on developing new references for pressure measurements using different optical measurement methods.
What do we do?
- Maintain traceability in pressure and vacuum
- Quality-assured measurements and calibrations of gauge, differential, and absolute pressure, such as pressure balances, manometers, pressure gauges, and vacuum gauges
- Provide advice and metrological expertise to industry and society
- Offer training in pressure and vacuum
- Conduct research and development, both nationally and in international collaboration projects
- Arrange bilateral comparison measurements upon request
- Participate in international comparison measurements to maintain the highest measurement quality
- Contribute to standardization work
