Fire safety at sea remains a critical challenge for the maritime sector. The Conference on Fire Safety at Sea (CFIS) brings together industry professionals, experts, authorities and other key stakeholders to share knowledge, explore solutions and drive progress in maritime fire safety.
CFIS is a unique international conference where stakeholders come together to exchanges ideas, gain inspiration and advance maritime safety. In 2026, the conference will take place on 1–2 December in Borås, Sweden – home to the world-class RISE Fire and Safety facilities.
The Conference on Fire Safety at Sea is dedicated to advancing maritime fire safety through knowledge sharing, collaboration and networking. By bringing together a diverse mix of participants – from researchers to crew members—CFIS creates strong opportunities to share experiences and insights and helps identify emerging research and development needs.
The CFIS has been held since 2021, originating from the EU-funded project LASH FIRE. The 2026 edition marks the 5th conference.
CFIS is designed for industry professionals, researchers, authorities and regulators, technology providers and anyone engaged in advancing maritime fire safety.
This conference serves as a key meeting place for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences and building partnerships across the sector.
By bringing the sector together, the Conference on Fire Safety at Sea contributes to safer vessels, stronger policies and continued innovation in maritime fire safety.
