Resilient Energy Communities with Advanced Protection

Renewable energy communities (RECs) drive a sustainable energy transition but face cyber risks from digital energy sharing. RECAP strengthens REC resilience in Sweden by integrating AI-based threat detection, risk assessment, and real-time response to ensure secure, compliant, and reliable virtual energy sharing.

Renewable energy communities (RECs) are an important part of the transition towards a sustainable and resilient energy system. However, these communities enable virtual energy sharing through digital communication and interconnected infrastructures which makes them vulnerable to cyber threats. Without tailored security solutions, these vulnerabilities could undermine the benefits of energy sharing and hinder the broader adoption of RECs.

RECAP aims to enhance the security and resilience of RECs in Sweden by developing a framework that integrates automated threat detection and risk assessment. The framework seeks to proactively detect, mitigate, assess cyber threats, and risks targeting RECs by utilizing AI-supported detection solutions, risk assessment methodologies, and real-time threat response.

This work directly supports the challenge area of virtual energy sharing by facilitating the adoption of RECs through enhancing their resilience and ensuring compliance with regulations.
